The Eastside Group
In 2001, myself, sculptor Bill Friesen and poet/artist Joe Rosenblatt formed ourselves into the Eastside Group; the east side refers to the east coast of Vancouver Island, where we all live and show our work. We began with "The Bird Show" at the Oceanside gallery in Parksville, followed by a show at Frameworks, Qualicum Beach. In 2003 we showed "Imaginary Friends" at the JCC in Vancouver, followed by exhibitions at the Fran Willis Gallery (Victoria) and "Mythic Archipelago" at the Maltwood Gallery (University of Victoria), then shows at the Amelia Douglas Gallery in New Westminster, the Sandstone Studio gallery on Gabriola Island, "Angels and Demons” in Nanaimo and “Strange Appearances" in Duncan. We hold regular summer shows in Joe’s lovely backyard garden. Below are images of my work for our Angels show, followed by some images from our exhibition openings.
