Alternative Identities: Ad Hoc Groupo
Nine BC artists created an exhibition about alternative identities, or personae. Each artist used an alter ego either within their work or as the purported creator of their work. My character was Nancy Normal, who
I described as someone who "has served me since childhood, partly as a cover, partly as a helpful guide...who grew out of my fervent desire to be acceptable to other girls". The pieces Nancy and I created or adapted for this show express my struggle with the limitations and social conventions which being "normal" demands. Below are my pieces for the show; following those are photos of the characters who attended the opening.
